Books on the Myrsilkains

Seasons

Seasons are a somewhat uncommon coloration that show up only if both parents have a Season ancestor in their past. The genes that are responsible for turning the normal Elemental affinity of a Myrsilkain into a Seasonal affinity are recessive, meaning that, if a dragon is only half-Season, it will have Elemental powers, not Seasonal ones, though it will be carrying for Seasonal affinities. On the other hand, a Season x Season crossing will only produce Seasonal offspring, no Elemental offspring.

There are sixteen colors that a Season can come in: Winter, Spring, Summer, or Autumn by Dawn, Day, Dusk, and Night. In general, each dragon will be influence by its Season first, and then its time of day. While the Seasons are mostly self-explanatory, the times of day have become known as the "Times of" influences. For example, Dawn is the Time of the Healer, Day is the Time of the Warrior, Dusk is the Time of the Mage, and Night is the Time of the Defender. The full lists and descriptions are below.

Winter Dawn:

` Time of the Winter Healer

Those of Winter's Dawn are a pale, soft silver in color, with flecks of dark and light scattered across them and sunrise colored wings. Their markings can simply be described as "Winter" with a frosty blue fading to pure white to frosty green. The Dawns of the Winter Season are very hopeful, bright creatures, always looking for the silver lining behind every cloud, but their heritage as Winters make them quieter and "softer" in their emotions than other Dawns. They're less prone to speaking their mind at a drop of the hat, and prefer their role as the listeners and dreamers of the Winters.

Winter Dawn females can summon spirits of the ice and snow, along with other creatures of winter. They excel at summoning snow or ice storms of varying strengths, with the upper half of the spectrum able to create blizzards and other such winter storms. The strongest of the Winters (grades 9-10) are able to create the impression of Winter no matter what season it is.

The males have spells that permit them to create the impression that it's Winter, with the upper half of the spectrum able to turn even Summer into a Winter that will last at least a full day. They can also create snow and ice-storms with their magic. The strongest of the Winter Dawn males (grades 9-10) can summon lesser creatures of the Winter.

On top of all that, Winter Dawns, of both genders, are able to create light where there is none, though the light will be tinged with everything that the dawn of a winter day is. Their's is the healing power of the deepest sleep, near to death but not quite, that assists all but the worst injured to heal in peace.

Time of the Winter Warrior

Those of Winter's Day are a pale, winter-sky blue in color, with flecks of white scattered across their hides and silvery wings. Their markings can simply be described as "Winter" with a frosty blue fading to pure white to frosty green. The Days of the Winter Season are often cheerful, intelligent dragons, always piecing disparate information together to build an image of what is going on about them, but their heritage as Winters gives them a gloomy side that can appear at random intervals. They're the speakers of the Winter Season, personable and not afraid of showing off what they have.

Their's is the power to strengthen anything they turn their minds to, whether it be a wall, a creature, or another's magic, though it works best when focused on something of Winter or the cold.

They're often the organizers of the Winters, and anything a Winter Dusk touches has a tendency to work out in the end.

Their's is the power of magic, permitting them to view and manipulate the magic of others, though it works best with magic of the Winter or cold.

Their markings can simply be described as "Winter" with a frosty blue fading to pure white to frosty green. The Nights of the Winter Season are strange, often mystical seeming dragons, with a distinct enjoyment of confusing others with riddles and half-spoken clues, though their heritage as Winters calms and settles them down quite a bit, making them both more soft spoken and peaceful and more prone to being both mystical and "romantic." They're the protectors of the Winters, unwilling to give up on anything or anyone if there's even a spark of hope left.

Winter Nights of both genders are able to dim any light about them, until it takes on the soft light of moon and star-light reflecting off of snow. Their's is the power of protection, and their protection magics are unrivaled by any but other Nights, especially during the winter and the cold.

Spring Dawn:

Time of the Spring Healer

Those of Spring's Dawn are a pale green in color with flecks of yellow and soft sky blue across them, and their wings are the bright colors of sunrise on a pristine day. Their markings are "spring like" with soft green fading to soft blue. As Dawns, they're always looking for the bright side in every situation, and their heritage as Springs only reinforces that, making them some of the most outspoken and welcoming Dawns possible. At the same time, they can be as shy as newborns unless they know those around them, but as soon as they get to know the others they have a tendency to not hold back. Like newborns, they listen heavily to their instincts, and have a tendency to know better than most when someone is lying or isn't to be trusted.

Spring females can summon spirits of the water and of the wood, along with creatures that align themselves heavily with Spring. They excel at summoning rainstorms of all intensities, though only the upper half of the strength spectrum can summon the truly massive storms that occasionally strike. The strongest of the Springs (grades 9-10) can create the impression of Spring no matter what season it is. The males have spells that permit them to create the impression that it's Spring, with the upper half of the spectrum able to turn even Autumn into a Spring that will last at least a full day. They can also create rainstorms of all intensities with their magic. The strongest of the Spring males (grades 9-10) can summon lesser creatures of earth, wood, and Spring.

On top of all that, Spring Dawns, of both genders, are able to create light where there is none, though the light will be tinged with everything that the dawn of a spring day is. Those of Spring Day are a new leaf green in color, with robin's egg blue and motes of sun yellow across their hides. Their wings are a dazzling yellow-white in color, edged with robin's egg blue. Their markings are "spring like" with soft green fading to soft blue. As Days, these dragons are very cheerful and intelligent, quick to understand situations and people, and their heritage as Springs reinforces this with a bright innocence that few can deny. Though sometimes shy, they're almost always curious, and make friends extremely easily.

Their wings are colored like a brilliant sunset, fading into night. Their markings are "spring like" with soft green fading to soft blue. The Dusks of Spring are some of the calmest Springs known, baring only the Nights. Stately as only newborns can be, they're given to insights and wisdom that others would miss due to over thinking situations. Though not nearly as adept at organizing as Winter Dusks are, Spring Dusks are adept at calming people down and making them think rationally.

The Nights of Spring are often the calmest of the Springs, and while they don't have quite the taste for confusing others with riddles and half-spoken clues like Winter Nights do, they enjoy innocent wordplay puzzles that may confuse others. They are often champions and defenders of children and the causes children, and their innocence and warmth often wins them many friends with the children they champion.
