Books on the Alevaharin

Draconic Colorations

The Alevaharin have a directional sort of division in their race, based upon the four cardinal directions. For each type of coloration - equine, feline, or draconic - the personality, colors, and general powers are slightly different for each direction, though similarities are there.

It should be noted that direction, and therefore powers and to some extent personality, are based upon coloration, not which clan they're from.

Basic Information:

Alevaharin have a total of 8 possible basic draconic colorations, though variations are known to occur on occasion. Those that have a draconic coloration are typically considered to be more dragon in nature than the other two base colorations, and their powers reflect that.

Strength in their overall power will be given a grade from 1-10, with 10 being strongest. This will affect how powerful they are in all of their direction-specific powers (such as: North controls Ice, so an Alevahari with a power grade of 8 would have a stronger control of Ice, and therefore able to do more, than one with a grade of 2)

Even though there are only four cardinal directions, there are another four directions (Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest) that are made by combining the general traits of the two directions that they are between. All that can be classified as a secondary direction often have a mixture of powers from the two cardinal directions (for example: One of the Southwest would have powers of fire and calling the rains, for which each will get a strength rating, and they'll often be weaker in a specific power than a pure South, West, North, or East)

Directions and Descriptions:

North:
White, the wise ones, those that seem to stand and watch the world from a distance. Yet they will always give aid and teach when asked, as their strength and knowledge is a thing to be honored, and their gift for finding ways to teach others courage, endurance, and wisdom is revered. Those of the Draconic North often strive for balance and harmony in their lives, seeking to become stable and unbreakable. Bend they might, but break they refuse to do. Their powers rest in the control and creation of ice, or the chilling of the air, while their empathy tends to be slightly stronger than their telepathy.

South:
Yellow, those that push for change and difference, they are faithful and trustworthy, always striving their hardest to overcome everything that's thrown in their path, by nature or those around them, in order to reach their goals. Those of the Draconic South are often seen as the protectors of the clan, and give their best in order to live up to that. Their powers rest in the warmth of the sun or of fire, while their telepathy and empathy tends to be fairly close in strength

East:
Red, they are the ones that are constantly searching for the new and different, always looking ahead towards that next dawn with optimism and curiosity. Their powers rest in that of will, if they will something to happen, it eventually will, to some extent, thus, they have the most flexible strength score of all the different types. If they can't be bothered that much about something, there won't be much of any effect, yet if the matter is something that touches them deeply and profoundly (such as a life or death instance of one they care about, or something similar), the effect will most likely be almost instantaneous and very dramatic in some fashion, the strongest area of affect is in the realm of healing for them (they can heal easier than they can destroy). Their telepathy tends to be higher than their empathy.

West:
Black, being who they are, those of the Draconic West are often the nomadic loners of the clans, but not because of any real rebelliousness usually. They just can't seem to settle down, the open road calls them, their imagination soars with thoughts of what could be beyond the next horizon. They often have a profound respect for life, and know that death and ending has its place in the natural order of things, and draw knowledge from that to aid them. Yet still, these nomads are well loved when they visit a clan for a time, for the stories they tell and the knowledge and open friendship that they offer. Their powers rest in calling the rains and soothing emotions. Their empathy tends to be stronger than their telepathy.

Colors and their directions:

White-Black - Northwest:
White-Blacks can be almost anything relating to those two colors. Variations such as a pure or mottled gray (the true blend color) have been seen, along with such variations as a white base color with black spots or stripes, to a black base color with white spots or stripes. Points, such as a base coat of black with lower legs, tail, and mane of white, or vice versa, have been seen as well.

White - North:
Whites can, on occasion, be a pure white... or they can be a white with touches of other very pale colors, from pale, icy blue, to a pale green, orange, violet, or almost any other color imaginable. White will be the base coloration at all times, though, but any sort of markings imaginable can be seen.

White-Red - Northeast:
White-Reds are the color of the Northeast, and are similar in their patterning to the White-Blacks. The only difference here, though, is that the true blend color will be pink instead of gray.

Red - East:
Reds are the East, and often show the greatest variety of color of the cardinal directions. Any of the reds that can't be defined as pinkish or red-black can show up, and its not uncommon to see an East sporting several colors of red in some form of marking.

Yellow-Red - Southeast:
Yellow-Reds are like the other secondary directions in their various patterning. The true blend here, though, will be oranges of varying intensity.

Yellow - South:
Yellows show almost as much variety of color as the Draconic East does, their colorations spanning from a yellow just a step above pastel, to a yellow just a step below dark gold. Again, like with the East, its not uncommon to see a South sporting several colors of yellow on their bodies.

Yellow-Black - Southwest:
Yellow-Blacks also have the same type of variety of patterns as the other seconday directions do. Their true blend here is a dark gold and variations there-of.

Black - West:
Black is the West, and has the least amount of variety in colors and patterns. A few have a dark, irridescent sheen to their bodies, but its more common to see the irridescence only on markings.

Oddities:

Occasionally, rarely, a Kitling will be born and grow into a coloration that's... rather contrary. The somewhat common oddities are the East-West and North-South colorations, but the extremely rare and contrary colorations are those that represent three, or sometimes even four, directions. An Alevahari with such a coloration is watched rather closely by most, as none know exactly what is possible out of such a being, sometimes not even the Alevahari itself knows.

Little is known about any of these types of colorations, though more is known about East-West and North-South than is known about the tri- or quad-directionals.

Red-Black - East-West:
As a coloration, the Red-Blacks tend to be a dark, almost ember or cooling lava-like color. Markings can be of any sort, but they'll be of colors fitting the designated scheme of red and black. Power-wise, its suspected that they will have a merging of the two directions, almost as if they were a typical secondary direction.

White-Yellow - North-South:
Much like the East-West in terms of how their powers are combined and how their markings look. They'll generally have a pale yellow color, though have a base color of yellow (or white) and markings of white (or yellow) is known to occur.

Various - Tri-directional (many possibilites):
A rather odd looking coloration, one like this will have three of the four colors somewhere on his or her body, in some form or another. Powers are unknown, but its suspected that they'll be mixed together like a true secondary direction, leading to the possibility of widespread chaos if the Alevahari isn't properly trained.

Red-White-Black-Yellow - Cardinal Compass (all cardinal directions):
All the cardinal colors will be on this Alevahari in some form or another. Little to nothing is known about powers of such, except that they have the greatest possibility for having their powers going rogue on them and creating massive, worldwide chaos on a grand scale.

Gray-Pink-Orange-Dark Gold - Secondary Compass (all the secondary directions):
Although everything has technically been taken care of with the Cardinal Compass coloration, there is a rumor of the possibility of a Secondary Compass coloration as well, combining the true blend colors of the four secondary directions, and nothing else. Absolutely nothing is known about these sort of Alevaharin, some people even dismiss such a possibility as preposterous.
