Called the Aiji Kamui (Beloved Child Spirit) by Ha-Inu and Ameratsu, these canines have accepted the name as their own in honor of their creators.
The Aiji Kamui are slender and wolf-like in form, with thick, plush fur. Males have a slightly more noticeable ruff of fur around their necks than females do, but both genders do have it, as it is a useful defense against attacks directed at the neck. Their wings are "spirit feathered", and they never go through a proper molt like most feather-winged creatures. Instead, they can choose when to lose each feather, and gain new feathers moments later.
In size, this race ranges from 4' to 6' at the shoulder. Extremes of the race range from the occasional runt reaching only about 3' at the shoulder, and the occasional massive Aiji Kamui reaching a little over 7' at the shoulder. This puts them at Small to Medium-Small in the Standard Sizes chart.
They have a height:length:wingspan ratio of 1:2.5:2.
The Aiji Kamui speak only through telepathy when they wish to communicate with other draconic or humanoid races. They have a dialect of "canine" that they speak with each other (which they call "mika'al") that is a blending of "plain" canine-speak and the language of the spirits. Mika'al is spoken with both the body and the voice, and consists of many vocalizations made below the human range of hearing. The wings form a large portion of the language, and if an Aiji Kamui's wings are not visible or otherwise restrained, speaking mika'al properly becomes difficult if not impossible.
The Aiji Kamui are carnivorous, though will occasionally supplement their diet with vegetation of some form or another (often depending upon individual preferences). As for preference over recently killed or scavanged prey, that depends entirely upon the individual. Over all, the Aiji Kamui are very flexible eaters, willing to take meals whenever they can get them, and of whatever is convenient at the time.
All Aiji Kamui share the ability to communicate telepathically with others around them.
