Personality: |
Kedar is shy. Whether just a result of his upbringing, or a natural part of his personality compounded by his upbringing, everyone's glad he didn't bond Rabbit (Ramiath)... because then no one would be able to get anywhere near the pair. Unlike Rabbit, though, Kedar is shy around everyone, no matter their age, gender, or position. He's even shy around Arilero, and Arilero can't speak! (And is, in fact, very similar to a rather intelligent, very loyal dog, and is rather hurt that Kedar won't give him attention like the rest of the Clan will.) He's earned his title of Silence - very few have ever heard him speak, and when he does, he rarely speaks above a whisper. Underneath that silence, though, is a quick and predatory mind, as the wild of the taiga has never left Kedar. Though it runs contrary to his solitary upbringing, Kedar has learned (with Miath's coaching) to consider the rest of the clan as well as just himself (though in times of stress or while hunting he will revert to "me-only" thinking) when doing things. He can even be convinced (though Miath has to remind him gently at times) to hunt for others in the clan. Even with this, though, Kedar will probably never be a very good father figure. |
History: |
Kedar grew up mostly by himself in a taiga forest, and spent much of that time in leopard shape. His parents were both other leopard-shifters of the Aomurr race, and thus he was born, and spent the first two years of his life, exclusively in leopard form. It was only after his mother was about to chase him away (he only knew his father as a scent on the wind), that she finally explained what he was, and that he could change his form... but after a brief lesson, she chased him from her territory for good. It was up to him to learn and practice the form as he would, which he often only did during the summer (he had no clothes, and the human shape was not built for a taiga winter), and even then only when bored and satiated. That changed when he saw his first real human. Curious as to why an Aomurr would choose to stay in the silly bipedal form so much, he started tailing the human, poking through the human's gear while the human was away or asleep, and generally attempting to understand what he was seeing. Eventually, the human caught him at it. That started a long, complicated process of the human attempting to tame the "wild human" he had found, and eventually culminated with Kedar leaving the taiga alongside the man. From there, he drifted from place to place as the man did, and eventually ended up hiding in the shadows of the BSW hatching sands, curious as to what all the ruckus was about. It was there that Miath found him, though he wasn't on the official lists, and impressed him. |
Powers: |
Controlled Shape-shifting: Amur Leopard (pale coat with widely spaced large black rosettes with darker centers -- longer fur than many leopard breeds, as well as being built smaller and more compact for the cold climes they commonly inhabit) Speak with Animals (Limited to predator species) |
Notes: |
The Aomurr believe that they are leopards first, second, third, fourth, and humans only after every other option has been examined and discarded. This belief is encouraged not only because cubs are only introduced to the form right before their mothers chase then off, but because they live almost exclusively in the taiga, and unclothed human forms are not built to survive the taiga. As such, the human form exists mostly as an oddity for bored young cubs to play around with, and little else. The very fact that Kedar allows himself to be seen in his human form (and even had clothes created for it), shows how fascinated he is by humans. |
