Bonding

"Tyrnav..." Spoken softly, the word still echoed through the newly joined minds, "I name you Tyrnav.."

And you are Arrecer. I See you, and welcome your mind in mine.

The faintest of smiles slipped across the tranquil face of the bonder, before he nodded once to the parents of the clutch, then once more to the bonded. With no more gestures than that, he knelt and scooped his newly hatched bond up, before sweeping out of the den and towards food.

Discussions of the Past

How did you happen to be at my parent's den when I hatched? You are not the most social of all people, Arrecer.

Tyrnav calmly watched his bonded's face, as numerous emotions flitted across the creature's face and through his eyes, knowing that the only reason he knew his bond was feeling anything was because of his long companionship with Arrecer. Other tiny clues gave him hints on his bond's thoughts, which were often a mystery even to him.

"I merely happened to be passing through, and decided to pay a visit to the bonds of your parents."

You actually knew them? Honestly? Yellow eyes blinked slowly, as the mutt watched his bond shift from foot to foot, the movement almost imperceptable unless one knew what to search for. And there... the softest sound imaginable: the gliding of one claw over another.

Arrecer shrugged, "Honestly, Tyrnav. We were close friends at one point. Before..."

Before? Prompting his bond, Tyrnav wondered if he'd ever manage to pry this single secret from his bond's mind, but somehow seriously doubted it. There was something almost chilling about the man that he had chosen as his rider, and yet, it was nothing he could put his paw on and pin down securely...

Another negligent shrug, an idle flick of delicate fingers tipped with even more delicate looking claws, "Before we shifted, and drifted apart. Before I allowed myself to settle back into my ways. Before they bonded, and I went on alone."

The dragon tilted his black-capped coppery head, Is that the reason? They bonded with dragons and left you hanging?

Tyrnav watched as his bond's mouth quirked, Arrecer's equivilant to laughing aloud, as the man waved the questions away with a delicate hand, loose sleeve falling back down his arm to further reveal his delicate bone structure, "No, perish the thought, Tyrnav. They were right glad to give up the nomad's life and settle themselves down elsewhere. And I... well, I was never meant much for permanent company of humans or humanoids."

And why would that be?

"Because. My kind very rarely interact with any outside of our own people. If I wasn't a descendant of Arrevaen..."

And what does that have to do with it all?

"Everything." Arrecer shrugged, "Arrevaen was a wanderer, he even developed a lasting friendship with a human... so I am considered tainted by my kinship with him."

Tyrnav blinked, pacing after his bond with quick steps as the man began to walk... somewhere, Is that the only reason you travel?

"Wanderlust does run in families, you know," Arrecer smiled faintly at Tyrnav, rubbing the dragon's head with a long fingered hand, "After some places I have seen, and things I have done... my clan would never accept me back into the fold in any case."
